Drones, the IRS, the NSA,
maybe it’s just me,
but this appears to be the way,
that our freedoms become debris.
Because we fret, we fear,
we are vulnerable, it seems,
and though terrorists are rare,
we dread their awful schemes.
With little or no thought,
we lay our liberties to waste,
the freedoms that blood once bought,
for security’s sake – erased.
